MIDTOWN OPENS NEW ATHLETIC CLUB

 AT INDIAN CREEK LOCATION

Midtown completed major capital improvement project less than a week after Bally closure

OVERLAND PARK, KS – JULY 1, 2009 – Midtown Athletic Clubs has opened a state-of-the-art facility in Overland Park after Bally Total Fitness closed their club at Indian Creek. Midtown has operated its flagship Midtown Tennis Club at the Indian Creek location for the past 20 years. The tennis and fitness components have now been brought together under the banner of Midtown Athletic Club – a successful brand that Midtown manages in Florida, New York, Illinois, Georgia and Montreal.

Transforming the Bally facility into a Midtown Athletic Club required a substantial capital injection and around-the-clock work by Midtown’s associates and outside contractors. Midtown upgraded the fitness center with dozens of pieces of top-of-the-line equipment, 7,000 square feet of cushioned flooring and six 42” flat screen televisions.

“I think we should enter one of those extreme makeover shows,” said Midtown COO Paul Upchurch. “We saw a real opportunity to expand our operations in Overland Park and had to act quickly to take advantage. It is amazing what a difference a week makes. The club has really been transformed and we believe that our tennis members and former Bally members will really be impressed with what we have done.”
